The movie seems to focus around a line from The Avengers where Steve Rogers asks Tony what he is without the Iron Man suit. Not only is the action creative and breath-taking, like every other action set-piece from superhero flicks, but it is also symbolic. I certainly exited the theatre with that tune embedded in my mind. It’s absolutely beautiful, and is used abundantly in the movie. The sound of a hammer hitting an anvil makes the beat for the track, paying homage to the time Stark was trapped in a cave and had to build the Mark 1. Brian Tyler, the genius behind Stark’s theme in this movie, has created a theme that’s so empowering and majestic, perfectly capturing Stark’s character. But clearly, those critics have never heard the score from Iron Man 3. Marvel has often been criticized for having unmemorable soundtracks in their movies. Next, the score for Iron Man 3 is fantastic. What is means to be a hero, that everyone makes mistakes, but only heroes have the courage to fix them. He embodies every mistake he has made in the past. Something that’s a result from something he did. This is the only movie of the trilogy where Stark has to face something that he created. In Iron Man 2, Stark faces a result of his father’s actions. In the first Iron Man, Stark faces a corrupt corporate businessman who was evil from the start. And that’s exactly what makes the Mandarin a great villain. In the film, it is revealed that the Mandarin is a creation from Tony’s past, a result of some idiotic thing his younger, dumber self did.
While there are thousands who may disagree with me, I still stand firm in saying the Mandarin is a great villain. Secondly, the Mandarin is the perfect villain for Tony Stark. And my personal favourite, Paul Bettany’s J.A.R.V.I.S never fails to put a smile on my face with his classic one-liners. Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts shares a heart-fulfilling romance with Tony.
Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes and Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan star in several hilarious moments as the Iron Patriot and Stark Industries’ newest head of security, respectively. The supporting characters fit the film so well too. Tony Stark’s character development in the movie, as he copes with PTSD and his fear for the Mandarin, as well as uncovering what is really means to be Iron Man, is so good that it puts tears in my eyes. Downey’s performance to the character is so spot-on that it’s almost unsettling to call Tony a mere character. Robert Downey Junior’s Tony Stark undergoes a journey throughout the movie that makes the audience root for him and love him. In fact, that’s exactly what I’m about to do.įirstly, the cast is outstanding. I can go on about the plenty of reasons why Shane Black’s latest armored adventure is an amazing film, definitely not the worst of the trilogy, and arguably, even the best. As Stark squares off against the Mandarin, he needs to answer the most important question of his life – Does the suit make the man, or does the man make the suit?

Now, I’m sure you’ve probably already seen or heard about the film’s plot, but on the off-chance that you haven’t, here’s the gist – 6 months after the Incident at New York in 2012’s The Avengers, Tony Stark suffers from severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after seeing the horrors through the Chitauri portal and you know, almost losing his life. But in the immortal words of Thor from Thor: Ragnarok, is it though? Despite grossing over $1.3 billion in the box office, Iron Man 3 has taken a brutal beating critically, and some even go as far as to call the film the worse of the Iron Man trilogy. The seventh installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Iron Man 3, has enraged and disappointed Iron Man fans across the globe.
